In light of a comment made to my previous post, here is a response that I hope will reveal more of my motivations and intensions. If I had $10 million...In order of priority-ish, here's what I'd do with it:
I want to live on 1/10 of that money for the rest of my life and also take care of my family. The rest will be donated or given away to people who have impacted my life or whose lives I wish to impact. All funds will be given to the recipients over an extended period of time.1/10- BRIDGE scholarship program. For more information, see
Wheaton's website (this program is being coordinated by a good friend of mine).
1/10- Local churches. They have molded me into who I am today: Northside Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Road Missionary, and Granger Community Church.1/10- Urban ministries. The Church must go to the people in any way shape and form. YFC in Central Valley, CA, will receive a majority of this. The rest will be given to organizations such as Breakthough Ministries (Chicago), the Dream Center (LA), and the like.1/10- Intentional living communities such as JPUSA (Jesus People, USA) in Chicago or The Simple Way (Philadelphia). 1/10- Ministries overseas. I will send money to the church in Brasil I attended during the summer of 2004. Money will be sent to Gilbert and the Compassionate Ministry in South Africa where he is currently the director (Nazarene). Funds will be sent up to Brown City Family Camp in Michigan (Missionary). Ilsan Village in South Korea as well as the orphanage we visited during the Motherland Tour in 2003 will also be recipients.1/10- World Vision and HOLT. If Dr. Bob Pierce or Harry Holt would have said “no” to God, I may not be here today with the blessings and opportunities I have.1/10- Foreign lands. I’ll have houses in many different countries. This will be spent to pay the bills while my friends and people I’ve met focus on ministry.2/10- Charity fund. This would be specifically for my board of trustees to give through grants to non-profits and charities whether they are “Christian” or not. The label doesn’t really matter as long as they are helping people.
